Fish Forever is a global initiative between The Environmental Defense Fund, Rare and the Sustainable Fisheries Group at the University of California, Santa Barbara with a goal of empowering “the world’s poorest coastal communities to not just change the way they fish today, but to Fish Forever”. The project officially launched in 2014. I built this website while working at Rare in my position of Web Content Manager. The website was built in roughly three weeks to meet a deadline, primarily by myself, a third-party developer that I managed, and the Communications Team at Rare. The site was built on WordPress using a custom theme. Some of the challenges included finding a creative and visually appealing way of displaying footnotes discreetly, working within a very fixed brand and color scheme, creating an interactive map, pulling in resources and blogs from a variety of different places, and working under an extremely tight schedule. I was very pleased with the final look of the site. I believe it was easy to use and correctly reflected the great work of this partnership.

I left Rare in 2014. The FishForever initiative has subsequently been rolled into Rare’s main website (www.rare.org/program/fish-forever/) and the stand-alone website closed down. An archived copy of the site I built can be viewed at the Internet Archive WayBackMachine.
